Types Of Cosmetic Surgery That Can Improve Your Appearance And Treat Physical Discomfort

Cosmetic surgery has opened up doors to an all new world of eliminating all cosmetic defects in humans’ body and looking perfect. With procedures available for almost all parts of the body, it’s no wonder cosmetic surgery is getting increasing popularity.

However, the decision to undergo a cosmetic surgery should not be taken causally. The outcomes of the surgery are often permanent and so, you should be sure about the decision. You should also find the best cosmetic surgeon like Dr Naveen Somia and should have the right motivation.

A cosmetic surgeon may suggest a patient to get counseling before surgery if he finds that there is an underlying problem which the surgery cannot solve or if there are signs of BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder).

BDD can make a person assume that there is something extremely wrong with their looks, while objective evidence says something different.

Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is also a type of plastic surgery that aims at improving function as well as giving a normal appearance to a body part that has been damaged, e.g. after a mastectomy.

We’ll talk here only abut cosmetic surgery.

Types of Cosmetic Surgery

As said earlier, there is a procedure available for almost every body part. Thus there are various types of cosmetic surgery.

Facial Cosmetic Surgery

Eyelid Surgery or Blepharoplasty: The aim of this surgery is to reshape the eyelids. Eyelid skin starts sagging with age and there may be hooding or drooping of the upper eyelids and bag formation under the lower eyelids.

Eyelid surgery may be cosmetic, functional or both. It normally includes removal or repositioning of excess fat and skin and the surgery may strengthen the muscles and tendons surrounding eyes.

Brow Lift: Brow lift, forehead lift or browplasty is performed to eliminate signs of ageing by raising drooping eyebrows and eliminating wrinkles or worry lines from forehead. It’s usually done at the same time as that of other cosmetic surgeries so as to achieve more harmonious facial looks.

Rhinoplasty:Rhinoplasty or nose job is aimed at reshaping a patient’s nose to enhance appearance and also usually breathing. It may include reshaping the tip and decreasing the bony hump on the upper side of the nose.

Otoplasty: Ear surgery or otoplasty is done to treat misshapen or prominent ears. It’s done by pinning the ear surgically closer to the head with reshaping the cartilage, sutures or both.

Rhytidectomy:Rhytidectomy or facelift is done to remove wrinkles surgically and tighten facial skin so as to achieve a younger look.

Liposuction

Liposuction or suction-assisted lipectomy is performed using thin hollow metal tubes or cannulas, to vacuum fat from different parts of the body, normally neck, back, abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks and backs of arms.

Liposuction is also used for male breast reduction.

Breast Surgery (Mammoplasty)

There are again the following types of breast surgeries:

Breast Augmentation or Enlargement: This is traditionally performed with silicone gel or saline prosthetics. Today it is performed using fat grafting.

Breast Reduction: This is performed to provide relief from physical uneasiness, whereas the goal of augmentation is mostly to enhance appearance. This surgery also reduces the chances of breast cancer.

Mastopexy (Breast Lift): This involves removal of glandular tissue and skin to make the breasts smaller and rearrangement of the remaining tissue to make the breast look lifted. This can also be combined with mastopexy based on how much volume the patient loses or desires.

Male Breast Reduction:This is performed to treat gynaecomastia, a condition in which breasts of a male are enlarged. The procedure is done by liposuction or with a variety of scar patterns, usually hidden around the areola and nipples.

Cosmetic surgeries not only enhance our looks but also eliminate certain physical discomforts, and so, you should consider one of them depending upon your problem. Just visit Dr Naveen Somia for more details.
